Kenwood Toaster

I wonder why it took me so long to buy a toaster. Happy to finally get one! Toasted cheese bread is yummy!

B862 Exam

I was feeling really calm and excited to take the exam. I did study for it over the Chinese New Year Holidays. I even had a big smile after reading the questions because I know for sure I studied those and can answer them confidently. But alas! I mixed up my formulas and now I think I might have to re-sit the exam. Darn!

Christmas Day Mass

Instead of a fully packed church like last night, today the church was only half filled. I guess most are not up to waking up early just yet. I was feeling sad this period of Christmas like I explained earlier but Father Cuff today told of the meaning of JOY. J for Jesus. O for others. And Y for you. He explained this means we should put Jesus on the top of the list, then others before even considering oneself. After hearing his explanation, it made me feeling much better because although I am feeling sad because of the circumstances but I had not done anything to make someone else happy. Hmmmmm…….Must be a sign to get me going to be a volunteer. I have always thought of volunteering with a local social service group but had not carried through with it. Maybe 2008 is the time!

Midnight Mass

I attended my first midnight mass in Hong Kong on Christmas Eve at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. I never tried because I had to do it on my own and I was not sure if I can make it safely home afterwards. But God is with me and I had a peaceful evening and got back home happy. I hope to do it next year.

Christmas time

I just had dinner with my aunt and her two adolescent kids. What bothered me was that my aunt complained and complained from the moment we entered the restaurant. That the restaurant is a cheap place, that the service is not good, the steak is probably from China and not from New Zealand as stated in the menu, that the gravy is not tasty, the hot lemon water was bitter, and so on and on. Yes, it was not that good and yummy but way much better than the usual CafĂ© de Coral or Fairwood I am used to. I guess she really wanted to eat at a Japanese restaurant. But I do not eat sushi so I declined. Anyway, she was the one who chose the steak restaurant! I invited them for dinner as I thought it was Christmas and it has been a while since we last saw each other. So it was a good time to get together. But then it did not turn out as I would have wanted it….just a simple and pleasant dinner.

The previous day added much more to my sadness this Christmas season. I had dinner with my grandparents, uncles and their families. My grandparents did not acknowledge my presence but they all did manage to have an enjoyable dinner. Afterwards, we escorted my grandparents to their place and then left for my uncle’s new place in Quarry Bay. I felt really sad at this point as I realized both my uncles have two homes each. One home is for city living and another home an hour away. And here I am not even welcome to stay with them in any of those homes. I have to rent a tiny suite for my home. But I am hopeful, my time will come when I can finally afford to rent or even purchase a flat.
